Question
My juvenile uromastyx (7-8 months old) has started breathing out of his mouth. he does it several times a day for short periods of time (seconds). Is it within normal behavior or should I be concerned?

thanks

Answer
Check your tempuratures with a good digital thermometer.  When healthy reptiles gape, it is because they are releasing excess heat from their bodies.  Now if your temps are normal, then have him checked by the vet for a possible respiratory condition.
