Question
hey...my beardy is not a happy camper right now... about 3-4 days ago i fed him some dead mealworms...they have been sitting in there own fecal matter for about 24 hours, some were still alive...anyways i washed them with a strainer and fed my beardies like 2 tablespoons each...(my beardies are 4&5 years old)(1 male & 1 female)... i didnt think it would affect them but it seems to have....my larger female (5 years old) hasnt shown any signs of anything,, the male on the other hand is lethargic and doing death rolls,, running across the tank running into the walls,,,running in tight circles... like i said its been bout 4 days and hes been calming down,  spazes here and there,,  looks like hes blind,,,  his breathing is iregular,   he pooped 2-3 large sized stools that looked regular,, a black log with white entrails... im afraid these worms might have given him food poisoning or hes constipated... ive been manually feeding him water everyday and i fed him a cricket today but he spit it out several times...he will lay there for hours motionless then suddenly explode,, running in super tight circles, looking like hes trying to bite his tail, running into walls....my tank is large (65 gallons) and i have a seperator tank the same size... i have an infored light for heat and a basking spotlight , and the tank is near a window and catches some sun during the day, partly shaded... i think my setup is perfect... im sure its those worms ... i keep force feeding him water bout twice a day,.   i was thinking of force feeding him lettuce to loosen constipation but not sure... i dont wanna stuff him up... he seems pretty bloated... his regular stance seems unbalanced and his eyes are all over the place... i think hes been partialy blind since the day i got him , but now it looks like he cant see anything,,, just shadows but hes in so much pain he only seldomly looks.     anyways it looks like he slowly getting better, but i would like a professional opinion ... one more thing ,,, sometimes when he goes nuts, i turn the infrored off and he stops,,, maybe uncomfortable...  i remember my own personal food poisoning experience,,, the tempeture spikes,  cold sweats, hot shivers... just wanna be left alone,  curled up in a ball in pain and agony ... he seems coherent and some points but not when going nuts .. . total intoxication... lemme know what you think ..

Answer
Hello Martin,

Oh that doesn't sound very good at all.  Your female is fine you mentioned?  Did she eat as many of the mealworms?
It is not advisable to feed dead worms as you don't know whether or not they have a disease or anything.  While I am not sure that they have been the culprit of what is going on with him, it probably has contributed some.
Do not feed him anymore bugs or insects right now.  I would try getting some squash babyfood, canned pumpkin, sugar free applesauce & mix that up & add a couple of drops of olive oil as well.  Try to get a little bit of that into him with a plastic dropper or a plastic syringe.
I didn't see any UVB lighting being used?  Unfortunately, he will not get any UVB emissions through a window.  Is he housed with the female?  The lighting should be a bright white light for the basking light, & a UVB light such as the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb.  The infrared light really is not beneficial for him.  It is not bright enough to stimulate behavior & feeding.
What are the temps in the tank right now?  What type of thermometer are you using, a round analogue stick on, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Do you supplement calcium at all?
Did he have any other type of problems previously, such as lethargic behavior, any twitching of muscles that you have noticed?  What has his appetite been like before?
