QUESTION: I have had three leopard geckos for about a month now. Two are doing great, they look wonderful and eat well but the other one doesn't look well at all. She was way too skinny when I got her and I was worried then but she was active and eating. Now she won't eat, she looks like a toothpick, she barely moves, and spends most of the time sleeping in the water bowl. I tried feeding her crickets by hand and everything. I am not sure what to do and I am getting worried that she isn't going to make it.

ANSWER: Hello Tracy,

Yeah, she looks pretty ill.  Have you gotten a fecal done on her?  I believe it is most likely parasites.  Sleeping & laying in the water bowl for extended amounts of time is an indicator of parasites or worms.
You will need to get some chicken or turkey babyfood to try to get some food into her.  Mix some powdered calcium in with it also, & use either a plastic syringe or plastic dropper to get food into her.
I would also separate her from the other two since she is not doing well, just so she doesn't get the others ill or they wont pick on her.
Can you get a fecal done on her, or do you have a vet?
If you want to try to simply deworm her, let me know & we will go from there.  I do have some panacur & syringes that I sell & will dose it out for you in the syringes.  She looks like she wont last a whole lot longer.

Try to keep her a little warmer also.  Take the water dish out so she can't lay in it, too because that is affecting her body temperature as well.

QUESTION: Hi Tracie,
Thank you for your help. No, I haven't taken her too a vet because there isn't a reptile vet in my area and I don't have the money to pay for it. But I hate for her to suffer. I did a lot of reading on-line and talked to a few other people. I thought it might be impaction and I also read that problems shedding can make them sick. So I had been letting her soak in warm water for a few minutes everyday and giving her a few drops of vegetable oil in a syringe because thats what i was told to do. I have been doing this for two days and she seems to be a little more active. Do you recomind deworming her? Should I do the same to the other two just in case? I don't want my other babies to get sick either and I want to try my best to get her better.
Thank You,
Tracy

Answer
Hello Tracy,

So you think that she could be impacted?  If so, & I also think it is a possibility, use a little bit of chicken or turkey babyfood, some sugar free applesauce & a drop or tow of olive or mineral oil for her, daily.  Great you are being proactive & getting started on the soaking!  I hope that it will help out.
Has she had any appetite at all?
You might want to deworm her yes, as well as all of the others just to make sure that they are not going to get cross contaminated.
Did you separate her from the others yet?
No vet around, yeah, they are hard to find.  If you decide you want to deworm them, let me know.  I can sell you some Panacur & will dose them for you.
