Question
Hi I've had my green anole for almost a year now I don't know how old he was when I got him but now for the past couple of days he stays closer to the bottom of the tank and usually hes up on his rock wall or sitting on a vine and then hes also always brown and he keeps closing his eyes and even when I touch him like just to nudge him usually it would make him run away but he won't move like he isn't dead yet but then he'll open his eyes to look at me very slightly and close them again I put crickets in his tank and he just ignored them completely right now hes sleeping and at night especially he goes and sleeps high up like on the rock wall or whatever and right now hes on the ground against the glass sleeping hes also shedding right now the tank during the day never goes below 85 degrees and at night never goes below 70 and the humidity for the majority stays in the 30s but I try to spray his tank with water a couple times a day and I put moss that I get from the pet store in the tank on the bottom to hold in moisture I don't understand what could be wrong with him hes never acted like this before and I'm very worried should I clean out his tank and put fresh everything in and not leave any crickets in with him or should I just wait and see and just leave him alone? I also don't know if he was captive bred or not I got him from a pet store they didn't tell me much when I bought him

Answer
Hello Karissa,

I am sorry to hear about your anole.  Do you know how old he is, a year old, or older?
Do you have any pictures of him & his setup?
Are you using any UVB lighting for him & calcium supplementation?
What type of thermometer do you use to measure the temperatures with?
What type of substrate do you use, sand, or paper towels?
It does sound like he is not feeling well.  When was the last time he has eaten?  You could try giving some chicken or turkey babyfood with a plastic dropper or syringe to him, if he will take it.
The shedding can affect him as well & can cause lethargic behavior but we need to decide if it is something else going on.
You could get a fecal done on him to get him tested for parasites & or worms.
