Question
im a 1st time owner of a new corn snake my problem is the humidity in my tank is way to high it hitting at the most 70-80 % which is to high i have replaced da bedding with aspen and put in a smaller water bowl to see if that will make a difference ,i was also told to run a fan to provide extra circulation in the tank which seems to help but after the fan is turned off it just rises back up to over 70% please help as i dont want my snake to become ill the temp in the tank is fine just the humidity

Answer
Marc,    You have a grated top on your tank I hope . If you have a hood replace it. You can always lay a towel on open parts of grated tops to control humidity even damp towels....If you do have a grated top what I would do is go with a lower wattage bulb. Your UVA. Put your larger bowl of water back in there he or she will need it to soak and shed and some just like it. If you are using an under the tank heater maybe too strong try turning that off. You can get a heatrock cover it with a washcloth while its a baby. If you would like explain exactly the set up you have for it. Heating, lighting, how much your misting a day. Oh and if you can train him to eat in separate container while it is young will help that he doesn't swallow bedding. Please send info back and maybe I can pick out the prob here ..... Tina
