HELP! CRESTED GECKO

22 14:34:37

Question
My crested gecko is very sick. Its been shedding alot lately and has not really come out to eat much so i went in to go hand feed it and its color was gone and it was white as a ghost.  It was skinnier than usual and there was mucus all around his mouth and its jaw was extremely limp and floppy.  Now its just completely lethargic and barely has the energy to lift its own head. Its having difficulty breathing and it just lays there with its mouth open It will eat a little bit of baby food off my hand and it will lap up water out of a dropper but within a period of ten minutes it will just throw it up. Im very worried hes not gonna make it. If theres anything i can do for him please get back me. Thank you.

Answer
Anna, you need to take your gecko to the vet immediately. This is a very serious ailment and is fatal. It sounds as though he may have MBD and RI which are both fatal and serious. They can be helped with treatment if its caught early enough. There is no home remedy and nothing you can do without the proper medication. I apologize but the only thing you can do is take him to the vet now. They can give medication and diagnose the exact problem and hopefully the treatment will help but it's not a sure thing. I am really sorry about your gecko. Here is a couple links on MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) and RI (Respiratory Infection)

MBD:

RI:

I again apologize about your gecko, good luck to both of you. Let me know how it goes
