question on thinness of bearded dragon

Question
I have a bearded dragon and I just added a uvb light and within a few hours his color is changing to a more gold/orange color.  He seems thin, does not have b.movements very often, once every week or so, but he eats small amounts and moves around easily.  Currently, his little feet are dark as is his tail and I am not sure if he is getting ready to shed; he has not done so for awhile.  Please advise.  He eats crickets, lettuce, peas, carrots etc., I also add the calcium powder as directed by the pet store.  My question is are the bearded dragons supposed to be thin?  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Rhonda,

Can you send a picture of him, that would help.  They are not supposed to be so thin that their hipbones or spine protrude.  They should have a nice round belly, & fat pads on their hipbones, the base of their tail, & on top of their heads.
What type & brand of UVB are you using, a flourescent tube or a compact/coil light?  what type of basking light are you using, a bright white light or a colored light?
What type of greens do you feed him?  How old is he?
What are the temps, do you measure the temps with a stick on type of thermometer, a digital probe or a temp gun?
