Bearded Dragon Brumation period

Question
My Bearded Dragon, The Dude, is about a year old. He is quite small for his age and recently has stopped eating and will not go to his usual basking site, he wants to hide away all the time, when i pick him up he does wake up a bit but doesn't put up his usual fight and does not seem his usual happy self. I have been to the vet and am still awaiting results for blood and stool tests, but i was wondering if the winter shut down has to occur in winter for dragons kept in indoor vivariums? and if it does, how do they know? I am very worried about him but read that sickness and brumation can be easily mistaken for one another by inexperianced vets and i don't want to cause him harm by having his enclosure too hot or through the vet force feeding him. Any info you can throw my way will be gratefully received

Many Thanks

Rik

Answer
I'm not really sure I understand the first part of the question.  If you're asking me if you have to brumate your dragon for it to stay healthy then no if thats not what you meant feel free to clarify.  If the vet took blood and stool samples he should be able to give you a good idea of what's going on reguardless of if he mistook sicknes for brumation or visa versa you're pretty much doing the right thing as is.  I would not try to force feed the dragon though unless he's look seriously ill.
