Leopard Gecko and Fungas

Question
Well, We have 3 Leo's we introduced a new male for breeding purposes a few weeks ago. He looked very healthy when we purchased him. He was previously owned. Now, since we introduced him, I am noticing these raised white almost Chrystal looking spots on all of them. I was opposed to thinking they were mites because this looks nothing like what has been described to me as far as mites go, although I was thinking maybe a fungus perhaps. We have them on repti-sand and we use grapevine as well as keeping are cages clean to the best of our knowledge. We also use under cage heating as well as an overhead red UV bulb to keep the cage at 75-80 for breeding purposes. So actually the new introductions since we started noticing the spots would be the new male and the UV bulb.

If you have any idea what this could be please let me know

Thank you
Bonnie

Answer
Hello Bonnie,

First off I would take the reptisand out.  That is a pretty dangerous substrate & they can get impacted from that stuff.  Is that sticking to them any?
Did you quarantine the male prior to putting him in with the 2 females?  That is recommended to prevent spread of disease, etc.
I would bathe all of them, separately to see if those areas come off any.
I would take the red uvb out.  Are you sure it is UVB or just a heatlamp or basking bulb?  I do not think there are any red UVB lights that I know of.
If they are mites, they will somewhat come off.  Clean out the tank really well with a vinegar to water solution right now to help clean out any mites, etc.  Try using paper towels for now & dump the sand into something else right now.
What are you measuring the temps with, a digital probe or a temp gun?  The temps should be 85-90 in the hot spots & only about 78-82 on the cooler area.  The ambient should be around 85 or so.  Get a stick on thermometer for measuring ambient temps.
Let me know how things are going.
