Question
My boyfriend has a chinese water dragon. He las had it for about nine months. He recently got a new dragon that is much smaller than the first one. We started to reconize a change in the larger dragon, he doesn't have much energy. He has his eyes closed all the time even when he eats. Also he doesn't eat very much. My boyfriend was cleaning his cage like he does everyday when he noticed little about 1cm long maby smaller black worms in the water. He has a dry end and a wet end to his cage. The animals are being seperated . Could you tell me what kind of worms they are, and how to get rid of them. We don't have an exotic vet near by.

Answer
Hello Amber,

Well, chances are, the baby that you recently purchased was wild caught which greatly increases their parasite levels.
Can you get a fecal exam done on the baby?
Great to hear that you are housing them separately, that is a good idea!  The larger one would possibly kill the smaller one.
The worms, I am not sure about, I would need to see a picture of them.  It is possible that it could be an internal worm/parasite coming out with feces into the water.  Are you keeping the water cleaned daily, as they do defecate in their water bowls often!

Is the new baby eating?
