QuestionCan you tell me what could me wrong with my lizard - he has one back leg that has become limp. He will not, or is not able, to use the one leg. He is approximately 19 months old.
Thanks
Answer Hi Shelly,
There are so many reasons that without more information, and x-rays, I can't tell you just from the question. It might be from an injury, or it could be from a deficiency and only a good reptile vet is going to be able to do the proper tests. A back injury or a fracture if it was from a fall or running into something, lizards don't have discs in between the vertebrae. Calcium deficiency, Lack of a good UVB source, can cause MBD, metabolic bone deficiency.
So get him checked out by his vet and if it is MBD, you may be able to reverse some of it, if it's an injury, it might be fixable, but only a vet can know for sure.
