Question
QUESTION: i got ur reply about the parasites and when i bath the new WD to check for blood, but, ive tried to bath it,and it flipped out in the water, and i had to remove it.why wld it do that??

ANSWER: Hi Jennii,
He was most likely scared to death of the tub or what you used to bathe him in.  Many reptiles freak out with white or light colors...they also feel trapped by the sides of the tub.  If you try again, use less water and place a folder towel in the bottom so that he has something to grasp onto.
You can mist him and dab him with a white paper towel....that should show if you are getting any blood or specks off of him.
Don't force him to take a bath if he is that afraid of it...work with him slowly on it and you may have to use something smaller and more open such as a cake pan, or frisbee, depending on his size.

Half breed??
QUESTION: hi.i askd a question a littl bit ago on my new water dragon and mites etc..and all that was clear & healthy, but,it still HATES water.ive tried everything.im uploading u a picture as i knw wht thre meant 2 look like, but ths ones very dffrnt.Inside the mouth is all orange, stripes are same as a 2 striped wter drgon, but, same size head as eastern wd,but with tiny eyes.i think its a half breed.

ANSWER: Hi Jennii,
I'm not so sure what you have is actually a water dragon.  Sometimes, with pictures its very hard to tell as you can't get a true "look" at scales, etc.
I think what you may have is either a Jacky Lizard or a Gilbert's Lizard.
If you go to  http://www.kingsnake.com/oz/lizards/agamids/agamids.htm  You can pull up pictures of both species.
If its either one of the species, it would explain it not liking water.

QUESTION: wow,it is a jacky lizard.ive never heard of them.i know it hated water, but the one time i got it to swim,it did just like a water drgn.it also changes color at night time which is odd.so,my forcing it to eat meal worms isnt such a novel idea?

Answer
Hi Jennii,
If you are positive that it is indeed the Jacky, you now have a good starting point on how to keep him healthy.
They are insect eaters so mealworms are fine.  Crickets, locust, roaches, silk worms, superworms, etc are all fine, along with other insects.  What you are seeing is the stress that is given to a lizard that is wild caught. So many just don't survive due to the stress of captivity.
They do require a good source of UVB. If you check some of my answers on the forum, especially pertaining to bearded dragons or iguanas, you will find info on good uvb..
I found this link which has some good info on jackys.
