Answer
Hello Sahasra, Star tortoise eggs should be buried in approximately 12 -15 cm of loose soil that is slightly moist or damp but not wet. Try to keep the eggs in the same position and not rotate them when you handle them. The temperture should be 29 or 30 degrees celsius. At this temperature they may take anywhere from 3 to 5 months to hatch but the eggs you have may have started incubating before you found them so the time may be less. You may need to add a little water to the soil during that time to keep it moist. If you choose to bury them and incubate them outside then you could place some wire or cage material around and over the nest to protect the hatchlings when they arrive. Perhaps you could also find a safe place inside that keeps the suitable temperature and bury the eggs in some moist soil in a container or pail. I hope you are able to save the eggs and produce the babies from them. Star tortoises are very beautiful and they are endangered.
