Question
I have a female leopard gecko who appears to snap her jaws together when she's approx 1 inch from a cricket.  It's almost like she's provoking it, and it seems to work.  Have you eard of this behavious before?

Thanks

Answer
Dear Sara,
thank you for your question.
I haven't heard of that before, but I don't think it's really unusual. I think it's probably nervour behaviour, like the wagging of the tail during the hunt (I don't know if she does that, most leos do, like cats). If she catches the cricket without problems, it's othing to worry about. If she seems to have problems with this, it may be a good idea to see a vet to rule out any health problems, difficulties in catching prey can be a sign of a calcium deficiency for example. I hope I was of some help to you
