Question
I purchased my leopard gecko two weeks ago and he was great stick my hand in the cafe and I could get him to walk up on my hand. Then I went on a work trip for a week and left him in the care of my mom. When I I returned home happy to see him I lifted his rock slowly and put my hand in an did what I normally do he started hissing. I was mortified that my baby gecko had done that because he had never done it that loud really not at all before I left he was an angel I come home he is a devil help?

Answer
Hi Rachil,
Your leo is acting normal. Sometimes they can act very calm when in a new home as they are "feeling out" everything.  Once they get a bit more comfortable in the environment, they may start to protect their territory. The fact you were gone, well..they do forget very quickly. As you can see, it can be a variety of things so you just need to have patience and he will get back to where he was before you left... You may have to back up a few steps and just put your hand in the cage and let him come to you before you try picking him up.
