Question
what makes a alligators diffrent from crockodiles?

Answer
Hi Brenna! That's a good question. There are 23 different species in the crocodile family. The American Alligator is one, and there are several types of crocodile that are commonly seen on TV or in the movies. If we compare the American Alligator with the American Crocodile, the most notable difference to me is the snout shape. Alligators have rounded snouts, while crocs are pointy. They also have different coloration, eyes, and specialized scales on their tales called scutes which are different from each other. I have given a link below, which you can copy and paste into your browser window. It shows pictures of all the different types of crocodilians. http://www.cclockwood.com/gatorcam/croc-album.htm
Thanks for the question! Nicole
