Question

alligator lizards
I took a photo of 2 alligator lizards.  One had a firm bite on the others neck.  Even when I got close enough to take a photo and they moved 3 feet the bite grip was not released. Fighting or courtship?

Answer
Hello John,

That is definitely 2 males fighting.  The bite is on the head while the mating grip is on the nape of the neck!
Did you stick around long enough to see if they ever broke up the fighting or not?
That is a great pictures, I hope one of them didn't get killed!
