Red tail Boa soaking in water

Question
Hi, I just recently purchased a red tail boa about 5 days ago.  She has been soaking in water a lot andrecently shed.  As I understand it, red tail boas tend to soak in water a lot during a shed period, but she is continuing to do so even after having shed.  I read that it is either because the boa is about to shed or is infested with mites.  I purchased this from a reputable breeder, and have not seen any mites on my snake or hands while or after handled her.  Cool she be doing this also to cool down, since I've noticed that she does it most after I've handled her?

Answer
Hi Aaron,

you can check for mites by putting down a white pillow case or paper towles and they will show up if they exist.but i think you have nothing to worrie about boa,s will soak for long periods of time and then move on. but coming off a shed and all it is normal. also make sure tank isnt to hot with a basking area kept at 90-95 F (32-35 C)and the rest of the tank at  82-90 F (28-32 C),and the tank can be ten degree's cooler at nightwith the basking light off.

hope this was helpful let me know and thanx for the ?
