hi Chelsey, first off thank you for taking the time to answer the question. ok, i have 3 green tree frogs, 2 reed frogs, 1 bahama anole, and 2 green anole. they have been all living together in a tank for about 2 years, all of them are healthy so they are compatible. my question is what else can i house with these animals ?

once again thanx.

Hi George,
WOW! you have alot of cute little guys! I don't blame you for wanting more, I'm the same way!

You could get a lot more critters, it mostly depends on what you are looking for, and how big your tank is.

Some things you shouldn't get:
*****More anoles. If you want another bahama anole, that would be okay. With anoles, you need to watch out for territorial behaviour. If you have any anoles that have dewlaps (the flap that they sometimes stick out from under their neck), it is most likely a male (not definatly, some females have them too).  Males tend to fight over females, and a lot of the time will kill each other or injure each other badly. You probably don't have this problem, since everyone is happy in your tank. If you have an anole with a dewlap, don't get any more. If they all look like females, you could probably get another green and/or bahama anole, it mostly depends on your tank size. Just make sure you don't go anole crazy, or there will be fights. Also, you can look up different breeds of anoles, there are these beautiful blue ones, those are next on my shopping list! Look up blue anoles on google images, it will show you some pictures.
*****DON'T get any Cuban anoles.
They get big, much bigger than green/bahama anoles, and will definatly fight each other. Cubans sometimes even eat green and bahamas. Also, you want to watch for your reed frogs as well.
*****I'm not sure if you have the green tree frogs with a tan stripe down their side or the really chubby fat ones. I would guess you have the ones with a tan stripe, because I have a fat green tree frog that ate one of my anoles. Definatly stay away from those guys if you want more frogs, they will clean out your terrarium.
*****Any type of pacman toad/frog or bull frog. Just look at sizes. Most frogs and toads will eat anything smaller than them. Ask the people at the pet store if they can eat mice, if they can, it's a no go.

What to get: You can get almost anything in between the size of your reed frogs and your tree frogs. Just make sure it's too big to get eaten by anything and too small to eat any thing in your tank.

IDEAS:
*****Catholic frogs. These guys are about 1.5 inches (4 cm) long, and bloat up really fat from sitting in water. They almost look like bouncy balls!
*****Poison dart frogs, if they are not too small for your tank. I'm pretty sure they aren't poisonous unless the food they eat is poisonous, but I'm not 100% on that. Supposedly, if you catch one and only feed it crickets, it shouldn't be poisonous, but others say it comes out of their back when they get frightened.
*****Skinks. Blue tailed skinks are very nice...they sport black and yellow stripes on their body, and their tail is solid blue. They do nicely with anoles and frogs.
*****Most types of salamanders and newts will do nicely, and would look pretty cool because they look like a frog-lizard crossbreed, which would be neat because you have frogs and lizards.
*****If you have a water type of pool in your tank that is big, fire belly toads and yellow belly toads would look nice.
*****Tomato Frog. This is a frog with a tomatoe colored back and black sides, belly and legs.

****** {this one has a lot of names it goes by!}
Mottled Shovel-nosed Frog, Marbled Snout-burrower, Pig-nosed Frog, Mottled Burrowing Frog.
This little guy (2.5- 5 cm) is wrinkley, chubby, and has almost the face of a mud turtle. They are very cute!

I hope some of these gave you ideas on what you could get, there are still many other things you could do. Basically, find something that only eats crickets, and doesn't get very big. I'm not sure where you would purchase some of these breeds, some you might have to do over the internet. Also, I wouldn't add too much at once. Only buy one or two animals at a time, and wait two days to a week before adding anything else, just to see how things go.

Good luck! I hope your terrarium gets bigger and has some new and interesting critters added!
Best wishes, Chelsey =D

Thanks! I looked it up after I sent that message and saw it was in NY, but I have no idea where to look for ones near by...it could probably just be googled. If you find any, let me know! Answer
Thanks A lot! I have a pretty good idea on where it is... I'll have to mapquest it to know exactly where. =D
Aww cool, I'm glad you got some tomato frogs. Too bad there weren't any skinks. If you ever go down south, like around North Carolina or florida, they are everywhere down there. Look in any bushy areas, and they will be there. You could probably order them online as well. I'm not sure, but I think alot of skinks loose their pretty colors when they get older, which I just read for the first time this mornig. I really don't think it's true though, because all of the adults in North Carolina were still super bright.

I'll have to check out the reptile show, it sounds like a lot of fun.
Enjoy your new frogs!
Best Wishes, Chelsey
ps thank you for nominating me for expert of the month! =D
