I have had my lizzard for about 10 yrs is it never use to shed so much and for a a couple of months now it just been having alot of skin hanging. Can I peel it off it? I also dont know how to tell if it is a male or a female. How can I tell?

So it is shedding right now?  Can you post a picture for me?  
The only time that it is acceptable to peel off shedding skin is if it is not really adhered & it is coming off then you can carefully assist them sometimes.
If you will look on the ventral (belly) side & the inner thighs if you have a male, there will be femoral pores all lined up & enlarged.  If you have a female, there will not be any at all, or greatly reduced to none at all.
