Timor monitor

Question
yesterday and today I noticed my brother's young adult timor monitor just laying in one spot with his eyes closed. Today we got him out and he feels VERY bloated. He won't move and occasionally gasps for air and gags. We have him in a little bit of water right now and under his heat lamp and we have his head on something so he won't drown or anything. What can we do to help him? He is not doing good at all. Please help! Thanks

Answer
The obvious answer is, you take him to a veterinarian with reptile experience, IMMEDIATELY.  This is the same answer with any pet you own that becomes sick--you're obligated (both morally and legally) to provide professional treatment for it.

I can't diagnose your monitor over the internet (even if I were a vet).  The possibilities range from an intestinal obstruction (which would require surgery), to a respiratory infection (easily cleared with a simple course of antibiotics), to many other things.  Either way, delaying treatment VERY significantly reduces his chance of survival and recovery.
