Brown Anole UVB

Question
Hello,

I have new, baby Brown Anoles. I am confused about what UVB light to purchase.  I was told I could get them for $15 or so, but now is about to cost $40. Must I get the fluorescent light, or is the coil okay? In addition to the bulb, what type of fixture is necessary?  Is any kind okay, or again, must it be the long type with the fluorescent bulb.

Also, do they eat any lettuce/oranges, or is that just their crickets who eat that?  I have been feeding them very small crickets.

Lastly, how long can the Brown Anoles last without UVB?  Currently, they just have a 75 watt heat light.  It is about a foot away from the very small, transitional tank they are in.

Thank you so much in advance!!

Answer
Hello Rachel,

The Brown Anoles, while they are small, still need some UVB yes.
I would get either the Reptisun 5 or 10 tube bulb, & mount or place it alongside a basking bulb which your baby would be getting heat & UVB all in the same area.

No, the oranges or greens, etc are usuall not consumed by them, just the crickets.  The crickets should be gutloaded with dry cricket gut load to make sure they are nutritious prior to feeding them to your anoles.
What are the temperatures in the tank?  What type of thermometer are you using to measure the temperatures with?

If you have some pictures, that would be great, thanks!
