QuestionMy husband and I took on a injured yellow leopard gecko from our pet store. He is blind in one eye. I am concerned that the glands around his anus are swollen and keeps discreting a liquid which he licks up. The glands were not swollen before. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
AnswerHi Rachel
Congrats on your new Gecko
What you are describing does not sound "normal" to me
While males do have bulges under the tail in which their hemipenis are located -there such not be liquid draining from their vent
I would take him to see a vet and see why he is swollen around the vent area
Also-have a fecal exam done while you are there to rule out the presence of internal parasites and bacterial indection
It also would not be a bad idea to have the vet look at the blind eye
Good Luck with your gecko
