Lizard Feeding

Question
I have 1 baby Savannah Monitor and 1 baby black and white tegu both in separate tanks.

Savannah Monitor is 8 inches long.  Tank is a 40 gallon breeder tank.  Warm side 90 degrees and cool side 77 degrees.  I use reptile carpet for substrate.

Black and White Tegu is 10 inches long.  Tank size 40 gallon breeder tank.  Warm side 90 degrees and cool side 77 degrees.  I use reptile carpet for substrate.  UV Tube light are used for both tanks.

My question is about feeding I mostly feed them insects.

Savannah Monitor gets crickets, butterworms, waxworms, small silkworms, small hornworms, and chopped up boiled eggs with the shell.


Black and White Tegu gets crickets, butterworms, waxworms, small silkworms, small hornworms, apples, grapes, berries, and it seems to like plums.

Anyways my question is when they get older I know they can get 3 to 4 feet long so what will I feed them then.  I plan on feeding them large silworms, large roaches,large hornworms, boiled eggs and fruit anyways the tegu is eating fruit but not the monitor  but when I did research everybody says feeder rodents should be given to them some people do it all the time I didn't think feeding them rodents all the time was good are they able to digest large quantities of hair.  Also when the tegu gets older should I feed him more plant matter than animal matter one site said people did autopsys on tegus and they find stomach contents 60% fruit and 40% arthropods.  But some people said they only feed them mice and young rats.  I don't know, many people says different things I rather do the right thing than some wrong thing for them, I just think my opinion, people use feeder rodents because in the long run for them it is cheaper to buy than a variety of insects thats what I think, I'm not cheap though if insects are the way to go then I will do it.  Also my friend said he saw some where that someone was feeding there monitor lizard cooked crayfish and cooked fish these were older lizards though, if I can do that what fish is okay and should I try this when there young so they learn that's okay food to eat and just dice it up for them into smaller chunks.  Also they fed them raw chicken liver and beef heart mixed in with veggies don't know what type of veggies I just saw it online is this good or bad because of the raw meat involved they can catch something or should I cook it.

 Be prepared, they will need larger living quarters as they grow.  And feeder rodents are fine, but go with the frozen/thawed mice and rats.  You can warm them up just before feeding and the freezing process kills any sort of parasite in the rodent that would harm them.  I would stay away from feeder fish, in the US live feeders also have parasites.
