Question

Pickels
How often should my two Leos be going to the bathroom. Pickles, the larger of the two females, eats quite voraciously. Echo, the smaller of the two, not as much. We are feeding a variety of mealworms, superworms and crickets dusted and gutloaded.

Also, could you tell me what variety of morph they are?

Answer
Hi Ronnie,

Pickles is a very nice looking gecko. Lol, leopard gecko morphs are, however, not my strong area of knowledge! With that amount of reduced spotting on her back and bright yellow colour, if I had to take an educated guess I would say Hypo tangerine. There are some shots of Hypo tangerines in these links for you compare:

Reptiles have a lower metabolic rate then mammals so they don't necessarily defecate everyday, although they can. Hydration, calcium levels, food type and temperature all affect gut transit time. I would consider every day to every three or four days to be within normal range for an animal that is eating regularly. I noticed that you have a loose particle substrate in the tank and that can always present a risk for intestinal impaction. This is even true for the "digestible" calcium based products so keep an eye on that. If you notice them ingesting the sand when eating or finding it embedded in their droppings you may want to switch to something like reptile carpet to reduce the risk.
