Question
QUESTION: I have been here a few times and have been satisfied so I'll ask again. Two weeks ago my gecko started shedding her skin. As of today, she still has skin on her head and tail. Is it normal for her to take that long? What do I do to stop the worries? How can I help her? Please don't send me another copy of the gecko care thing. I have saved it twice. Thank you.

ANSWER: Hi Addie,
Geckos shed all at once, and nearly in one piece.
Are you using a proper humid hide on the warm side of your geckos tank?
To help her along, you can give her a warm bath...water temperature 88-92 degrees and no deeper than her elbow when lying down.
For her head, while she is in the tub, mist her with warm water....you can try to loosen the stuck shed with a wet cotton swab while she is also wet.  Do be careful to not tear her skin by applying too much pressure.
If there is still some stuck, you can apply a small amount of Vaseline to the area.

QUESTION: How do I know if I'm using the Proper humud hide on the warm side of the tank? I'm quite young and dont understand things very easily!! lol

Answer
Hi Addie,
This is from the care sheet that I sent you with one of your other questions.
"They need to have a humid hide box.You can make this with something as simple as a small plastic dish with a hole cut in one side and a small mesh bag filled with some Sphagnum moss coconut bark or Peat moss that you mist.
I made mine out of the small plastic folgers coffee containers...I cut an opening in the lid..and put the moss in..they LOVE it. I use the terrarium moss in mine.
I use that on the warm side of the tank. "

Here is a picture of what a humid hide will look like if you use a dish.  http://www.stoplightcityleopardgeckos.com/makingahumidhide.htm

That should help you out a lot...step by step on making one!!!  Be sure to place it on the warm side of the tank...also...be sure to darken it in some way...here is a link to show how they made their dark..  http://www.stoplightcityleopardgeckos.com/humidhides4sale.htm
Of course if you use something dark to start with, you don't have to worry about that!
