Question
hi,
i just introduced a new leopard gecko to my 6 year old other leopard gecko.  they seem to get along very well but at first they where shivering their tails (sort of like a rattle snake) and it scared me because i thought they where going to fight! they never did but they both kept their distance for a while. now they're ok being close to eachother. i'm sure the new gecko is a famale. should i seperate them or just wait until they get along better??? i don't want them to get hurt and the new one is pretty jumpy and doesn't like to be held. should i try to hold her or just let her get used to her new home then try. or should i now hold her at all and just let her be??? my other one used to hate to be held but he got used to it and enjoys it now. please e-mail me back quickly because i don't want either of then to get hurt. thank you!!!

Answer
Hi Kenzie, The new gecko will need time to adjust to the new enclosure and the presence of the other gecko. Handling her at this point would just be an additional stress that she doesn't need. I would definitely let her be for a few days at least or until you see her start eating. If you are sure of the second gecko being female then you have two girls or a male and a female so you shouldn't have to worry too much about them fighting. I would suggest adding one or two extra hide spots at least temporarily so that they are not forced together too much at first by having to share. That may reduce the nervousness of the new one a bit. Anything you have around the house like a small cardboard box or other dark small container can be used.
