Question

snake
We live in Texas near Terlingua and Big Bend National Park. Found this snake and can't identify  it.

Answer
What you have as far as I can see with out being able to get an accurate scale count is a Western diamondback rattlesnake!  What make it look different is that you snake is lacking skin pigment cells known as melanophores. This happens on occasion in areas that become especially hot in summer or it can be a genetic trait handed down. Anyway, this snake is known as being "amelanistic".  If you look close you will see faint bands that cross the body from left to right about every two or so inch's. Also look at the faint rings around the tail now look at the side of the head and notice the dark stripe behind the eye that angles downward coming into contact with the rear of the angle of the jaw.  All of these items say Western diamondback wearing a new suite.
I could not get a good idea of its size but it does not look like a full grown adult, do you have the snake or any other pictures? If I had other views of the body I could say 100% but at this time, I would bet on it being a WDB.
