AnswerHi Kelsey, O.K that looks like a young box turtle, possibly a Florida box turtle. I am including a link about the general care of box turtles. They are a land dwelling species but need access to water in a shallow bowl. It can be a good idea to soak young ones in a little slightly warm water once a day to make sure they stay hydrated. In the picture, your turtle appears to not be well with his eyes closed and his legs straight out. Is he like that all the time or has he been alert and active? What kind of enclosure are you housing him in and does he have access to heat? Part of the enclosure should be warmed up to around 90 F with a cooler end that he can move to as well. You can provide the heat through a reptile heat pad or a basking light on one end of the tank. If your turtle has been acting ill or lethargic then the heat is extremely important. Young box turtles pretty much only eat insects and worms although as adults they will start to take fruits and vegetables. Most box turtles love earthworms so if has not been eating for you that is what you might try.
