Traveling with a dragon!

Question
Hello

This October I am taking a small road trip ad must bring all my critters(well I wouldn't leave them home) the trip will last 2-4 days and one of my five pets is a older male bearded dragon. I have heard of people traveling with dragons before without problems but I need advice on what to put him in for the trip?(I was thinks a very large critter keeper or a toy dog sized carrier(plastic with metal front bars) I can use those hot packs to keep him warm or sometimes he can be wrapped in a towel on my lap provided he doesnt move much. The trip will last 2-4 days and I was wondering if I should bring food? He eats canned bugs and superworms/king worms so it would be easy to brign something for him to eat. Any advice on the subject would be grand and also do you think a lizard leash would be a good option to take him outdoors this summer? Thank you.

Answer
I used soft animal carriers with a nice padding, and add a baby blanket the beardie can bury himself in.  There is a nice carrier tested by Graeco the baby carrier people that attaches to seat belts, very safe.  And is less than $20.00 ar Odd Lots.  Take a heat lamp with a clamp for pre-meal basking, and yes a halter leash for rest stops is always a great idea.  I've traveled a few thousand miles with as many as 9 dragons, stayed in pet friendly hotels and motels.  Hot packs are good when you are traveling where it goes below 60 degrees F.
