Question
Hi.  We bought a crested getcko about 2 1/2 months ago.  The past week, I have noticed that is seems to be struggling to crawl. It use to sit up high on a leaf(from a tree).  Took him to the pet store today, and they aren't experts, but they seem to think something is wrong with his/her spine.  Not sure what we should do?  By the way, how can you tell if it's a boy or girl?  They suggested we call a reptile vet, and see if they could answer over the phone, and also to make sure he is eating and drinking.  Thanks for your advice.

Shari

Answer
Hello Shari, I found information on sexing them here is the information word for word "The sex of a mature crested gecko can be noted by the presence of a bulbous post anal hemipenile on the males. Males also tend to have larger cloacal spurs. Males can be sexed as early as 4 months, females can usually be sexed between 6-9 months of age."

If he isn't moving correctly you need to schedule an appointment with the vet. Its not something that will just go away or anything that can be treated at home. So talk to a vet and work it out. Here is a link of reptile vets in multiple areas
