Question
Last week I adopted an Iguana from a rescue. It still young, hopefully. Only about 13" STV. It showing that it may have early MBD (lower jaw seems a little soft & swollen, not much of a climber yet.). Not much of a problem.  Proper lighting and calcium, I figured we would be on he road to recovery. Unfortunately it is not eating regularly, a leaf here and there, mainly when hand fed. I started using a caloric supplement for now. We've had no bowel movements (7 days) until this morning when I put it in a warm bath. In the feces was a large glob of yellow mucus and the smell was remarkable. Unfortunatley I lost the sample down the drain so it may take some time before I get some to the vet. Any idea on what type of parisite does may cause this? Panacur dosing or other med?
Thanks in advance.

Answer
Yellow mucus could have been a sign that the iguana also had been dehydrated at some point and caused a change in the urates, which if normal would have been a glob of creamy white mucus.  If his digestive system is that slow yet, these urates would be reflective of dehydration before you got him.  Please see the vet first, next week, poop or not, the vet can manually "encourage" your ig to poop if necessary.  An x-ray will give you a better idea of your ig's bone density and a blood panel will provide even better information on what the ig will need in his diet to help with recovery.
