Female Beardie 2yrs old Blood Bubble

Question
My wife has had her beardie for 8 months now. We had a pair at first, but the male died 7 months ago, right after we bought them. The female has been doing well. We have her in a 55 gallon aquarium, good heat, good lighting, good humidity. She doesn't eat greens, she just doesn't, only crickets and worms. Yesterday morning, she started passing, what looks to be an egg, but it's covered in a red mucus, and she's still trying to pass it. She's not agressive at all, there has been no change in her temperment, or diet, she just has this 1.5" - 2"  in diameter reddish gooey thing coming out of her hind end. Any idea of what it is? We live in new Brunswick, and we can't find a vet that knows reptiles at all, so I need advice from someone who knows. Can you help put me at ease, or at least tell me where to go from here? Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hello Chris,

That would not be an egg, that is a prolapse of either the colon or intestines most likely.
She is probably in some pain too.  Is her beard darkened yet?
Do you have UVB lighting for her & do you use calcium supplementation that you use 5 times per week?
What are her temps in her tank & what do you use to measure the temps?
If she is hypocalcemic that causes alot of trouble with straining & contributes to prolapses.  If she is not getting adequate UVB exposure that does not allow her to upload calcium & absorb it correctly which leaves her hypocalemic.
What you can do at the moment is to dissolve a couple of tablespoons of sugar in some warm water.  Then, cool it off a bit & sit her in the cool sugar water.  The sugar helps to reduce swelling in the affected area.  Then, use vaseline or ky jelly to lubricate the area to keep it from drying out & becoming  necrotic.
If she is on loose substrate take that out & put her on paper towels to keep it from getting dirty.

Let me know how she is doing.  Right now, I would feed only soft foods so it is easier for her to pass.  This does need to get taken care of quickly before she gets worse.
