ANSWER: Hello Lisa,

Can you review your tank setup with me?
What type & brand of UVB light do you use, a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
What foods are you feeding?
What are the temperatures in the tank & what is the humidity?
Did the vet do a blood test on her by chance, or a fecal before she passed?

Normally, they do not really miss their mate that much but they do react to changes in their tank setup & surroundings.
It obviously seems like some type of illness that was passed from her to him somehow.
Have you tried assist feeding with some baby food & a plastic syringe or plastic dropper?

Do you have a picture of him?
Is his beard black now?

QUESTION: Yes, 4 foot wide vivarium with flourescent tube lighting reptil-glo 10.0, feeding crickets, cucumber, carrot, curly kale, no the vet did not take a blood test or fecal before she passed, I have taken him to the vets today as i was really concerned the vet has said that he is anaemic, his gums are very pale and told me that he does not know what caused it and says that he will die, he explained that he had seen a few with aneamia and they all died, i have some anti biotics and food to feed him with a syringe and hope that he will perk up, but he is becoming weaker by the day.His body is gradually appearing more yellow and yes his beard is still black.

ANSWER: Hello Lisa,

Good grief, did he not test him for parasites?
Anemia is usually caused by heavy parasite or worm loads that steal nutrition in the system, leaving them malnourished.
Are you giving vitamins daily?
The Reptiglo 10 unfortunately is not a good light.  I would recommend purchasing the Reptisun 10 tube bulb instead.  The Reptiglo 10 does not have the proper wavelength of UVB which does not allow the calcium or vitamins to absorb properly.
How is he doing?  Try to get food & fluids into him right now.
What type of feeders do you use?
Do you have a picture of him?

QUESTION: Which vitamins do i need to give him?
I have given him a bath yesterday and today, as i was told that is the best way to hydrate him, I am giving him baytril which is an antibiotic, and critical care powder which is mixed with water which is a food and given by syringe. Gee Gee seems a lot more alert today he is holding his head up and has slowly been moving around the viv, the last few days he just lay in one spot.I'm not sure what you mean by what sort of feeders, could you explain
The temperature in his tank is 91.0
i have attached 2 photos for you to see.
Thanks
Lisa

Answer
Hello Lisa,

How is Gee Gee doing today, any more improvements?
What type of thermometer do you use to measure the temperatures with?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
He needs a basking temperature of around 95-110 with a cooler end of 78-82.
Do you know what the dose of the Baytril is?
The feeders just refers to the insects/bugs that you feed him.  Do you feed crickets, roaches, worms, etc?
The critical care powder is great, so continue to give that right now, especially if it looks like it is helping him out right now.
Let me know how he is doing.
