Question
our skink has been trying to get out of his tank [clawing his way at the glass] and has scratched his nose really good, how can i heal it without hurtin him? and what can i use to make him not want to escape through the glasS?

Answer
Hi Kerri, If your skink is new to you then this can be part of re-location stress. Many reptiles will make an effort to leave a new unfamiliar area in an attempt to return to their old territory. The behaviour is disturbing to watch but they do usually stop after a few days.
Make sure his environment has everything he needs as well, that will reduce his urge to roam. The tank should be an appropriate size for him. He should have a basking area of 90 -  95F and a cooler area of the tank that he can also move to. Make sure he has at least one cozy hide spot like a half log or piece of cork, even a small card-board box that he can enter. Reptiles can exhibit stress behaviour if they have no place to hide and feel exposed.
If all else fails you may have to make a visual block around the bottom part of the cage with something like dark paper. They will usually stop the behaviour if they cannot see through to the other side.
The nose can be treated with any type of topical antibiotic cream that you would use for yourself, like Polysporin or Neosporin. Obviously you will need to avoid getting it in his nostrils! Good luck.
