Question
how deep do water dragons dig underground to hibernate?

Answer
That would depend on the frostline, reptiles will dig just under it, or under where there is active decaying plant matter (creates heat).  In their native areas, like Southeast Asia, this burrow would be rather shallow.  Captive bred water dargons adapt to using caves provided by their owner, or any dark corner, in the substrate.  Some owners will even place their sleeping dragons in nice quiet drawers so they won't be disturbed except to offer water every few weeks.
