Question

Egytian Agama tail 1
Hello Diane

I recently rehomed a egyptian agama, the lady who owned her before me just could afford to look after her any more, I am a bit worried about her as she has a large what looks like a wart on her tail, the lump is half way into her tail, I am not sure what to do, her tail is still brite in colour so there is still blood going through the tail it self.

Answer
Hi Anthony,
Thank you for rescuing the Agama.
On the tail, what I am seeing looks to be some sort of growth that is starting to cut off the blood supply to the lower portion of the tail...notice how the area below the growth is skinnier?
The tail does not look to be a regrowth(looks to normal) to cause the thinning below the growth.  Its important to get the Agama to a vet so it can be checked and most likely removed surgically. Since the growth is covering such a width of the tail, the vet my opt to amputate the tail above the growth.
The vet will also be able to decipher if the growth is possibly a 2nd tail that is trying to regenerate if indeed it was a lost tail with new growth.  Its important to have a vet check it out. They may want to x ray, which would help in knowing if it is a growth(tumor)or regeneration of a attempted 2nd tail.  If you are able to, I would contact the previous owner and ask them if the tail was ever lost on the Agama.  To find a vet that is able to treat reptiles:
