Question
Hi
i am alex, i have owned my two leopard geckos (gordi and leo) for nearly a week now i have held gordi once and he was calm and docile; but when i tried handeling leo he seemed stressed and started wriggeling in my hands so put him down. I know this is normal to begin with but i want to know what is the best way for him to get used to me.

Thank you ;)

Answer
Hello Alex,

Remember, leopard geckos are probably one of the most sensitive of the gecko family.  They are normally slow to come around.  However, once they do, they are very tame most of the time.  He is still getting used to a new home with you.
The best way for him to get used to you is to put your hand in the tank & let him crawl onto your hand & arm for several minutes.  His tank is his safe haven so he will feel more comfortable on your hand, in his tank at first.  Each day, slowly increase the amount of time he walks on your hand & arm.
Eventually, you will be able to bring him out of his tank with him on your hand & he should be much more calm.  It just takes time & of course, some patience, too.

Good luck.
