Question
What are the signs of a male leopard gecko courting a female. I have two juvinilles and one lost its tail and it is smaller thatn the other one. The other one has a big muscular setting and it also looks like it has two hemipenal bulges. The tailess one is not as, well, its just smaller and looks like it doesnt have the bulges. But today I saw the big one just star licking the other one and the small one ran away. They did this over and over.

Answer
It could be dominant behavior. The bigger muscular one telling the smaller guy that its his territory and he is better then him. The signs of courting are the same as aggressive behaviors. If the smaller one runs it probably means that its aggressive. Do you mind me asking what size tank they are in? They need at least a 20 gallon tank in order to be kept in pairs although the more space the better. Signs you should separate them: Tail shaking, licking, biting, one having a lack of color, one taking dominants so the other isn't allowed to eat. That sort of thing isn't usually good. I think you should separate them because if you have two males they can fight each other until the death and if you have two females they can be just as aggressive just usually not as often but can still fight until one is dead. The best is probably Male and Female but then you will be stuck with fertile eggs. Hatching them or tossing them is your choice but both can be hard. That and the mating between two leopard geckos can be brutal and vicious. The male bites the females neck and will draw blood, he holds on tight until its through and its worse when the female tries to run from him. So separate them either putting a divider in a large tank or getting two different enclosures. Good luck
