Question
hi my name is Nicola and i have a bearded dragon that i love very much he is about 1 year old and i would like to know do they need to breed or can they be kept alone thank u

Answer
Hello Nicola, Bearded Dragons don't need "friends" or "mates" they are solitary animals in the wild and come into groups for food or mating. Its best not to breed unless you know what you are doing. Mating causes a lot of stress especially to a female. Your guy will be just fine without a girl's company. They like to live alone and during mating season he will be feisty but it doesn't mean he "needs" to mate. Most pet lizards never breed and they are fine how they are. And taking care of the gravid female, the eggs, the hatchlings its all very hard and a complex deal. Its best to just keep your guy alone and happy. He is perfectly content and will be fine. Well have fun with your Beardie and if you have any more questions just ask.
