our skink has just had one kiddo. How many babies do skinks normally have, and what does one need to do immediately after they are born? thanks! reece

Answer
Depending on species, some can have up to four, but the larger usually only one or two.  These babies are pretty much on  their own as soon as they are born.  They may not eat for a while because they are still digesting food they got from their mom during gestation.  Properly sized food should be offered in case they have exhausted their stores.  Just don't panic if they don't eat immediately.  Consider getting a new set-up started for the baby.
