tail growth

Question
Thank you for taking my question. I adopted two adult leopard geckos, one male, one female. They are in very good health. The female dropped her tail 8 weeks ago. My concern is the new tail forming. It appears to be significantly wider (nearly as wide as her mnidsection) and has reached about an inch in length. There is no open sore to lead me to think infection is present but the tail is very swollen in appearance. Is this due to water storage? Her appetite is good, she eats normally. No other symptoms are present. Do I need to be concerned about the edema-like appearance of the tail?

Answer
Hello Inga,

Could you post a picture of her tail before she dropped her tail, & then the present picture of her tail, please.

Sometimes when they regrow their tails, it will overcompensate fat & fluids for awhile until the growth evens out.  Most of the time the tail will not grow back as it was before.  There should not be any infection present, either.
