Question
Pam, my son got a fire skink for xmas, we bought it at petco have had it 2 weeks now and offered it crickets greens but she will not eat ? Petco said it may be change of environment and temp. They said to return her if she continues not to eat. How long can she go with out eating? She is drinking, is there something else we can try? We try even to feed her a night while its quiet and still she has no interest, I would hate to have to give her back. HELP PLEASE. Thank you Sherry

Answer
Reptiles go through relocation stress from the sudden changes of environment.  This causes the parasite load in their gut to rise and can cause digestive distress.  Since you have had it for two weeks it's time to see the vet for a check-up and fecal test.  Is the tank of proper size?  Heating? Lighting? UVB?  Moist hide?  All these things can be factors as to whether your skink can digest his food.
