small brown snake

Hi, I live in Dallas Fortworth, Texas.  I find many small brown snakes around my yard, especially under things.  Ive experienced that they are harmless because I catch them all the time.  All the ones ive seen are 6-10 inches long.  Do you know what kind of snake it is?  Someone told me it was a Brown snake or a Grass snake.  Thanks

Sounds just like a brown snake to me, and yes they are harmless.  They are small and feed on small animals.  If it's brown, then it's not a garter/grass snake.  If it has a white line with a few black spots along the line, it's definitely a brown snake.
