Question
Our female beardie is out 8 months old and today has not eaten, looks smaller, skin is wrinkling around spine, and she has started these muscle like spasms on the right side of her body and her arm and foot.  WE dust the crickets with calium every other day, greens are always availible  to her. since today is the first time we are seeing these abnormal signs should it be a concern and taking to a vet?? her tank is perfect, we have two beadies same age male and female in a 75 gallon, and he has none of these signs and is eating perfectly fine. we did start feeding them superworms about two days ago

Answer
Hello Amber,

Those muscular contractions sound like seizures or twitching of the muscles & body.   It sounds like she is not getting adequate calcium.
Housing a male & a female in the same tank is not recommended.  At that age, he will try to breed her & she will become gravid way too young which puts her at risk for a lot of health problems & metabolic bone disease.  Have they tried to mate yet?
I do suggest getting another tank setup for her, it sounds like he may be dominating her as well, not letting her eat much either.  Do you feed them separately?
Are you using a UVB light source?   If so, what type & brand are you using, is it a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
What are the temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
At her age, she needs calcium daily.  If you are not using a UVB light, she wont be able to absorb calcium properly.  The male will start to show calcium deficiency eventually also, if no UVB light is used.  If she becomes gravid while she is still growing, it can be debilitating for her & it will zap a lot of calcium out of her to shell all of the eggs for laying.
How long is she?  Superworms should not be a problem as long as she is 16 inches long.  If she is not that long, then sometimes they can be difficult for them to digest.
