Question
QUESTION: Hi Tracie, I have a 2 1/2 year old 'F' lemon Beardie. She's a sweet heart, so tame. I have a 90 gallon tank. I have an opportunity to get a 2 yr old 'F' Black Uromastyx , handleable. Can I safely put both females in the same tank, if I slowly introduce them ( using glass partition ).
Thank you,
Bill, So. Jersey

ANSWER: Hello Bill,

Well, you should be able to introduce 2 females with very little problems.  However, I would do a 3 month quarantine to make sure that your new one doesn't have anything she could be bringing into your home such as any virus or other disease that you may not be aware of.  It is just a good idea to make sure she is in good health before allowing any physical contact with your other Uro.
There is never any guarantee that 2 females will get along, but a lot of times, they do.
A glass partition for awhile during the quarantine would be fine.

QUESTION: Thank You Tracie, To clarify , I have a Bearded Dragon and am getting a Black Uromastyx. Those are the two I'm asking if can be put together. Not two Uro's. Is that still likely OK after quarantine ??
Thanks, Bill

Answer
Hello Bill,

Ha, good grief, you know I read that initially!  LOL  I do not know why in the world I completely missed that.  Geez.
No, they will not be able to be put together, sorry.  They are completely different species & require different husbandry.  Beardies do not need basking temperatures over 110 while Uros need basking from 120-125 or so which is not suitable for dragons.
Sorry!  Now, 2 female Uros could be housed successfully as well as 2 female dragons, "most" of the time as long as there is enough space for them.
