Ball Python Swelled head

Question
I recently inherited a young Ball Python. At first he looked normal enough. I did notice he "yawned" alot but didnt think too much about it.. yesterday I noticed his head was swelling up very large to the point where one of his eyes was moved  out of it's normal position and all white..  I was going to take him to the vet on monday morning but today he died. whatever happend to him came on very very quickly. do you have any idea what it was?

ive only experianced this once with a saleaneese python, although it took longer for the swelling and death it was caused by tumor that was between the septum and the eye socket, im sorry for your loss but this is nothing you could have helped or prevented and im asumming a rare thing as i have only seen once and now from you , in over twenty years.
