shedding-Water Dragon

Question
Hi, I have a chinese water dragon that I've had for a few months now (since february) and although he has lost a toe and the tip of his tail, I'm learning to keep his skin from constricting on his small appendages.  However, his tail looks bumpy, instead of smooth, at the last inch and a half of the tip.  I'm worried that this is excess skin restricting and I don't know how to get such skin off once it has begun to do this.  A few times I managed to take a tiny grooming knife and remove the skin from his toes, but I never know what is hurting him and actually causing more damage.  I try to soak him whenever I see this and whenever he is shedding.  I also use shed ease by ESU, but i was wondering if there was anything else I can do.  I keep the humidity between 40 and 80, but it is hard to keep high at times.  the temp in his cage stays around 80 also.  Is that too low?

thanks so much, I'm worried about him,
lauren

Answer
hey lauren,
thanks for your question,Shedding can result in the skin becoming stuck to the toe's, spike's or the end of the tail. If the skin stays stuck onto any of  these parts  while the tissue below continues to grow the circulation to the area decrease's and can lead to dry gangrene, infection, and death of the body part.if you can i want you to take yours to the vet to be checked for Metabolic bone disease just to be safe. now if you want to boost the humidy in your tank >if you can add a couple of potted plants to the tank and be sure to mist several times a day,30-is to low 60 is ok closer to or at 80 would be great, but is a little hard to maintian but try the plants and lots of misting.
keep me posted.

                   thanks
