frillies

Question
thank you, that was a very helpful answer but what i was really curious about was weather they are much more hyperactive than beardies.  i ask because i saw a video of a guy who had one on his arm, and when he moved his arm a little it jumped off and blasted across the room.  will this be the case with all frillies?  they seem like a very interesting pet and with my experience with beardies it shouldnt be hard to adjust to their needs, but if they are going to run off any time i pick them up, especially at the speeds i saw in the video, i might reconsider my decision.

-----Question-----
do frilled lizards make good pets or are they very hyper?  can you handle them very much, and what is the handling like?  how are they as pets in comparison to bearded dragons?
-----Answer-----
Frillies are quite a lot like beardies, they are sort of omnivores but do like more animal protein in their diet.  They would like a tank minimum 4ft long with more height than a beardie.  They have the same light and heat requirements.
Like beardies, they are a personable lizard, with males being calmer than the females, and bonding better with their humans.  Also it's important to get a young juvenile over an adult for a better bond.
Always try a find a good breeder for your frillie, rather than buying from a pet shop.
So far, the best caresheet I've seen is from Sundial Reptiles, though I would research the feeding of mice first. I always question the need to feed such a fatty meal to a captive lizard, with less activity than he would get in the wild, I'm wondering if feeding high fat food may cause fatty liver disease.

Answer
Yes, they are very fast, like basilisks (AKA Jesus Lizards because they seem to run on water), they can run on two legs, real speed demons, which is why their cage requirements are bigger.  They also climb a lot more than beardies.  That is why I specified a young lizard over an adult.  They can be skittish, more the female than the male, but once you've established the bond, males can become as laid back as a beardie.  Until then though, you will have to dust off your running shoes.
