QuestionI have 75 gallon and I'm setting it for baby BD five month . My plan was to use Mega Ray 160 WATT UVB ON the basking side about 14 inches away from the climbing log to the light . Also adding regular light because the tank is dark on the same side as the basking light . On the cool side because my house at night goes down to 60 F my plan was to add 150 ceramic heat emitter on a thermostat . Can you let me know if this is good set-up and if I have enough UVB in the set-up .thanks .
Answer A 160 may be a bit high for a 75 gallon. Whenever I get a new and different set-up I always contact Bob McCargar at ReptileUV.com and give him all dimensions and distances. He is probably the consummate expery#t in the field of reptile lighting and is always happy to help anyone achieve a perfect set-up for each and every reptile.
Aside from that, you should allow a new Mega-ray to burn for about 8 hours, and set your digital thermometer in several places to make sure your dragon has a basking area that is at least 100F-105F, and a cool side of 70F to allow your dragon to thermoregulate properly.
